The Full (Abridged) Story

A Lifetime of Tinkering

My design and engineering career started very close to the beginning of my life. At a young age, I took my toys apart. Eventually, I figured out how to put them back together. To this day, I still take my toys apart, but mostly to improve them. My engineering education began in elementary school. Participating in First Lego League until moving into First Robotics Competition in high school. Through that experience, I learned the basics of machining. From there, I got my first machine shop job sweeping floors, eventually getting promoted to cutting stock. During my time there, I stayed late to learn how to program CNC machines.

Many machine shops and years of college later, I've found a passion in product design. Having learned how to manufacture products before becoming a professional designer, I am gifted with a unique point of view. This is apparent in my design strategy; Creating elegant solutions that not only function well and look pleasing, but are easy to manufacture.

Outside of my career, I have many diverse passions. You can often find me outside, in any weather condition. Most of the time: climbing, mountaineering, cycling, boating, or shooting photos. The outdoors bring balance to my life. Another activity that grounds me is giving back to the community, a big part of my life. I joined the Gallatin County Search and Rescue Team in 2018, and it's one of the outdoor activities that I enjoy doing the most.
